La nouvelle législation sur le bien-être animal entrera en vigueur le 10 février 2024 !
Cette nouvelle législation comporte de nombreuses avancées. En voici quelques-unes :
– L’interdiction des chirurgies non thérapeutiques, comme la coupe de la queue et des oreilles pour les chiens, et le dégriffage pour les chats.
– L’interdiction de l’euthanasie par chambre à gaz.
– De nouvelles exigences plus strictes concernant l’exercice, la socialisation et l’enrichissement des chiens et des chats.
– l’obligation pour les gardiens d’équidés de se conformer au code national de bonnes pratiques.

New animal welfare legislation coming into effect on February 10, 2024 !
This new legislation takes many steps forward. Here are a few of its advances:
• A ban on non-therapeutic surgeries, like tail docking and ear cropping for dogs, and declawing for cats
• A ban on euthanasia by gas chamber
• New, stricter requirements regarding exercise, socialization and enrichment of dogs and cats
• A requirement that equine guardians comply with the National Code of Practice.
